Infant Jesus English medium school was started in 1973 to fulfil the vision of Saint Chavara Kuriakose Elias the founder of the congregation of mothers of Carmel (CMC). Education of the youth was his dream and the congregation of the mother of Carmel (CMC), Vimala Province, Ernakulam translated the Founder’s dream in to a reality. The school is ideally located, far from the madding around of the towns, amidst quite atmosphere at Perumpadanna, less than one kilometre from the heart of Paravur town and side lined by Kottakavu Syrian Forane Church , the Jacobite church and Don Bosco church. The CMC sisters in infant Jesus convent dedicate themselves to education of the youth and prepare them for future career with a view to develop well-balanced personalities for the good of the society promoters of the better world where love, fellowship and service prevail its fragrance in all directions.
Ours is an unaided Christian minority school. After remaining as a Lower primary under the state syllabus for 27 years we got affiliation from the Central Board of Secondary Education (C.B.S.E) in 2000.The first batch of students appeared for AISSE in March 2003.The State syllabus sections were eliminated in a phased manner and the school was upgraded into a fully fledged Senior Secondary School in 2006. The 10th batch of 10th grade and 7th batch of 12th grade appeared for AISSE and AISSCE respectively in March 2012. Started with just a few classrooms and meagre facilities, the school grew by leaps and bounds and it is now honoured in 4 three-storied buildings equipped with all facilities. The mother of Infant Jesus Convent, N. Paravur is the Manager of the School.
Parent teachers association (P.T.A) whose executive committee consisting of elected members from classes L.K.G to plus two is an advisory to help the principal in all school activities. The parents today generously contribute to constitute various awards to encourage healthy competition and also help the school administration to provide certain facilities from time to time. The executive committee elected for two years term.
The school has a reasonably large play ground encircled by school buildings on all four sides. We have a genuine basket ball court, Physical training sessions are given regularly to students from L.K.G to Plus Two. The school has a well equipped library and reading room with a wide range of books which accounts to more than ten thousand. Various news editions’ magazines and periodicals .A well qualified librarian and an assistant runs the library effectively. Every class has library register. We have a unit of Junior Red Cross apart from various clubs. The school is divided into 4 houses to promote true competitive spirit and they are headed by student leaders guided by teachers. The School Head Boy and the School Head Girl are elected at the beginning of each academic year.
The real purpose of education is to create better human beings, aspiring to become better, must be greatest –motto of a student. It is equally important for the teachers to put their tireless efforts in right direction. To make a child intelligent is comparatively easy but to make him conscious about human values and moral ethics is rather difficult.
